Time:

Saves time information in hh:mm format.

DateTime:

Saves both date and time information. If you also activate reminder feature, SpeedBase automatically creates a reminder in the background whenever a date is entered into this field of a record.

General Properties

Default Value: You may select here "current date/time" if you want the current date/time to be inserted automatically whenever you start creating a new record.

Text Alignment: Sets the horizontal alignment of the text content. This setting applies to tabular views. You may still select a different alignment to display on record window via "Form Designer" window.

Duplicate Data: Select whether two distinct records of this catalog may have the same data in this field. If you disallow duplicates, SpeedBase will show a warning message and refuse to save the current record if duplicates are found. If you select "Allow w. Warning" instead, a duplicate warning icon will be displayed but the user will still be allowed to save the record.

Required: If checked, the user will be required to enter data to this field before the record can be saved.

Date/Time Field Properties

Date Format: Select date display format. e.g. 12/31/2030 (short format), Dec 31 2050 (long format). The exact format depends on the format retrieved from the locale settings of the operating system. If you select "user defined", the custom format determined on "preferences" window is applied.

Enable Reminder Feature: If checked, the field will display a button which can be used to activate/edit a reminder for the currently entered date/time value.

Auto Activate Reminder on Date Input: If checked, a reminder is automatically generated as soon as you enter a date/time value into this field and save the record. You may select the defaults for the reminder here.

Preferred Title: This selection determines the automatically generated message of the reminder.
Example: If the record represents a person and the field keeps the birth date, the reminder can have the meaningful message like "Birth date of Name Surname".

Create Reminders: If you have created a date/datetime field and at a later time, you decide to activate the reminder feature, you may click this button to create reminders for ALL existing records which have a saved date value.
CAUTION! This action can generate a huge number of active reminders if you have large number of records with filled date data.

Delete Reminders: If you click this button, all previously generated reminders for ALL existing records for this field are deleted.

Advanced Properties

Create Index: Creating an index may improve performance for accessing/searching records but also may slow down creating/importing/deleting records. You are recommended to leave this box as it is unless you are a database specialist.
